Default Test predicts birth weight in obese pregnant women

The birth weight of their infant can be fairly accurately predicted in obese women at 34 to 36 weeks of pregnancy by using a calculation involving fetal ultrasound measurements.

So if they are obese, they can determine the birth weight, but an average size woman, the test wouldn't work? Is that what it's saying?

I don't think so. I think the point is that they can determine if the child will be obese as well.
