A recent survey of primary care doctors in the U.S. shows that many of them would either reduce the number of patients they see, or quit the medicine field all together. Out of the 12,000 physicians surveyed, 60% stated they would never recommend medicine as a career to others.
Fast Facts:
- A shortage of nearly 40,000 primary care physicians has been predicted for the year 2025.
- Over 150,000 were sent this survey, but only 12,000 responded.
- The survey also found that over a third of the physicians have closed off their practice to Medicaid patients, while 12% have closed their practice to Medicare patients.
